Welcome to Stoop.
In a culture where there are a whole lot of people professing to follow a guy who redefined what it meant to stoop, it seems there is not a whole lot of stooping going on.
I read a book recently in which the author recounted his final year at university where he decided that his vocation was to be a lover of god and of people. On the many forms that accompany a final year, he would always note his occupation as “Lover” .
Jesus was the greatest lover of all time – He loved all people; forgotten people, despised people, rejected people, the people who were told they were worthless. He was political, baffling and controversial; all because he loved; he stooped and gave the outcasts worth. In the end He was killed for his stooping.
But He loved (and loves).
And that is why Stoop is a magazine for lovers. It is definitely not because of an abundance of dating tips, ideas to spice up your love life or recommended places to pick up! In fact, reading these pages may inspire you to hang out with homeless kids, volunteer at a local shelter or quit your job to go and work in a slum – not exactly glamorous work. But it’s love.
Stoop is for those who stoop and need some encouragement. It’s also for those that are inspired to stoop more than they are now. Furthermore, it’s a call to the christian ghetto to follow their leader and start stooping.
It’s about staring in the face of the consumerist power brokers and stooping to wash their feet, just as we wash the feet of the downtrodden and in doing so make them equal. It’s about telling each other an alternative story; different to the one we’ve always been told.

Yours in humble stooping.
